Since Gaye took over the plaza in I think it was 2017 the place has been poppin. I absolutely love the plaza cafe, all the employees and most importantly the food. The plaza was always my go to when I lived in carlinville.

New ownership as of May 2017. The food is really good straight forward American diner at very fair prices. Generous portions. Nice service. Redecorated in upbeat colors. The new owner has really paid attention to detail in cleaning this place up. I had breakfast and they kindly substituted cottage cheese for the potatoes. Ham & cheese omlette was very generous on the ham. The sausage patty my friend had was excellent. Real butter is also available on request. Daily specials look great - oven baked chicken 2 breast with 2 sides $10. Open until 8pm m - Sat, closes at 2 on Sunday.

This restaurant came under new ownership and management about a year ago and has greatly improved! Homemade food... Not pulled out of the freezer. The service is excellent! They are slowly but surely updating the decor and I'm confident that it will match the quality of food and service. If you are looking for hometown friendliness, great value and good comfort food, this is the place!

Food is good and prices are reasonable, but the place needs a good cleaning. Vents were filthy, windows are dirty, and the place needs dusting.
